In Warrior's Don't Cry the logical appeal that Beals uses is all firsthand information due to the fact that she lived through the experience and is also the fact that everything that her Grandmother India says to her is not in haste, but rather sound, logical advice, without the presence of emotion. "When you let yourself lose focus, you make big mistakes." (110) "You'll make this your last cry. You're a warrior on the battlefield for your Lord. God's warriors don't cry, ' cause they trust he's always by their side. The women of this family don't break down in the face of trouble. We act with courage, and with God's help, we ship trouble right on out." (57) Danny, Beals' assigned guard who was a member of the 101st Airborne Division that helped escort the students in, around, and home from school each day is similar to the grandmother in that all he says is straight forward and logical, without impulse. "Warriors survive" (117) a saying of Danny's incorporates the whole idea of this story into two words. The fact that Beals was no longer in a state of mind where she could care what people said/thought or take their actions personally, but that she was just in survival mode again displays her youth and the massive responsibility that those nine students took upon themselves to uphold.
